RDC and where is the problem

Where is the problem ??  All to many times in the Remote Deposit Capture world the problem is directed to the check scanner or sorter machine.  A scan is made and the image may comes up on your screen. And many times the checks scanner will indicate a problem with a red error light or a software error message on the capture software screen. Which usually points to the capture device, when there other components evolved.

The PC is very suspect in this scenario. For the PC controls the check scanner, many times, the sorter or check scanner is software driven. If the PC is running many programs, unawares, which eats up memory and not necessary Hard drive space, this could slow down a pc and cause an error to appear on the checks scanner.

Then the PC is only as fast as the network it's on.  A network data flow can be slowed down on a busy network.  Perhaps even when you consider the time of day when large reports info are gathered and brought in. This could slow the process when a simple check scan on a pc needs to reach a service on the network.

And I do realize in the Remote capture world that many times it is the actual scanning device. Dust and debris is the worst enemy to the check scanner. Gears and feed rollers will ware down. And then you have a whole different set of problems.

So identify the problem, an error on scan, we tend to immediately suspect the check scanner device when the problem  could  be else where.

It would be a good thing to have a check test diagnosis program, where you can run it on the pc with out the network or the existing capture program.  To isolate a problem.
