Presidential poltics comment 2

Presidential politics:

I guess Hillary cannot remember her failure at Benghazi, so add her failed memory, along with failed to think straight on this one as more reasons for her NOT to be President.

Presidential Politics

Wow, long time no blog for me. But, I realized today, I have to get involved in the Presidential race this year.  This only because I want to be a voice !!

I am going to list some reason why Hillary should NOT be President:

- Her failure at Benghazi and many loss lives, many lies and sad cover up

- Her hiding the failed handling of the government emails, (she should not just laugh at this)

- Her being apart of the existing establishment and same old politics

- She did not finish her term as Secretary of State for her own personal gain and wasted many miles with nothing to show for it.

- She has not ever governed, was never a governor (see what that got us with Obama)

- She will obliviously raise taxes across the board for everybody and especially the small business owners.

- And we do not want her liberal selections for the Supreme Court

So it's just me and it's just my humble observations, my own political views.

I am using social media to get the word out to many. As I realize that many will wonder here to my blog from Twitter and LinkedIn.

I know there are two things that we do not talk about, Religion and Politics. Oh well. :-)

RDC and where is the problem

Where is the problem ??  All to many times in the Remote Deposit Capture world the problem is directed to the check scanner or sorter machine.  A scan is made and the image may comes up on your screen. And many times the checks scanner will indicate a problem with a red error light or a software error message on the capture software screen. Which usually points to the capture device, when there other components evolved.

The PC is very suspect in this scenario. For the PC controls the check scanner, many times, the sorter or check scanner is software driven. If the PC is running many programs, unawares, which eats up memory and not necessary Hard drive space, this could slow down a pc and cause an error to appear on the checks scanner.

Then the PC is only as fast as the network it's on.  A network data flow can be slowed down on a busy network.  Perhaps even when you consider the time of day when large reports info are gathered and brought in. This could slow the process when a simple check scan on a pc needs to reach a service on the network.

And I do realize in the Remote capture world that many times it is the actual scanning device. Dust and debris is the worst enemy to the check scanner. Gears and feed rollers will ware down. And then you have a whole different set of problems.

So identify the problem, an error on scan, we tend to immediately suspect the check scanner device when the problem  could  be else where.

It would be a good thing to have a check test diagnosis program, where you can run it on the pc with out the network or the existing capture program.  To isolate a problem.

RDC and the PC

Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) scanners and PCs are a familiar situation and setup in banking equipment.  And so it is for Teller Check scanner too.  There are many things to consider when running your RDC.  Many RDC or check scanning devices use the USB port on the PC,  Conflicts can happen with other USB devices or when a new device is added to the PC.  Be aware of your existing setup and test everything after your new device is added.  You may think, well my new device is just a printer or even document scanner.  But these devices may cause USB conflicts.  Check and verify after a new device install.

Also there's memory to consider too.  Sometimes there is just NOT enough Gigs of memory for every device and every program that is running and those programs that are running in the background.  You may have program conflicts.  Being a Tech from the 1980s, who would have thought Gigs of memory would  be enough.  Back in the day, we use Megs and Ks of memory. But, I am dating my self.  :-)   Many programs eat up memory and CPU time which will slow down your USB device.  Not to mentioned device drivers that are approved to use, but that's another blog someday.

Remote Deposit Capture and the Personal computer or a Laptop work great together if the proper conditions / setups are met. A slow PC will mean a slow RDC device.  Your check scanner will slow down or speed up as it goes with your PC.  Our company Benchmark Technology Group sale and service many name brand check scanners and RDC devices such as Digital Check, Panini, Burroughs / Unisys and  etc. . .We have the products, plan and professionalism you need for youe banking equipment.

A happy check scanner user

Check scanners

Simplicity is bliss!!  Back to the basics it is when troubleshooting a check scanner.  Power off & on the scanner and clean it out.  This is an end user procedure that even the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) expects from the user.  BUT, simplicity insults and aggravates many users. If I have heard it once, I have heard it twice.  Although, many get in a crisis situations and it elevates the emotions and thought process. Cooler heads need to prevail.  And start with the basics.  And if the Help desk person walks you through then same things that you have already done,  just smile and agree, you may have missed something or just going through it again could fix your problem / issue.

Dust is the enemy of the check scanner. So keep a can of air and dry wipes to clean the scanner. You can even take the covers off and turn the scanner upside down to let gravity to pull down any debris or clips.

This will make you a happy check scanner user.

The thrill of the fix

As a bench tech, there is the thrill of the fix.  A product comes across your bench or it may be a product assign to you for repairs, but then you have to fix, repair and test.  I have experience that in my time and indeed I know the thrill of the fix.  In the old days we use volt/ohm meters and O-scopes, to measure voltage and follow the signal. It was great times !! I'm glad that I experienced them.  Perhaps it's a blog suggest for another day. :-)

Now, I am in phone technical support and help desk.  And the thrill here is to FIX-IT-ON-PHONE !! Back to basics is my theory. Simplicity is bliss !! And often mis-understood.  Many will say, "I've already done that !!"  or "we've done everything !!"  Where some are unhappy and some are reluctant to say. :-) The small victories go a long way and can make you friends for life.  But it's the thrill of thrill of the fix, over the phone, goes a long way too.

So I this my lot, my job, my post. I will start with the basics and then go from there. And, who knows, in the mist of doing the basics, we may repair a few products along the way, which makes the customer happy and phone support tech happy and that's me.

When you put basics with a little know-how and knowledge, one can go a very log way and you can too.

Have a good day, a great day friend !!
